Stupid
"You look . . . "
JC looked up, catching Justin's eye in the mirror. "Yeah?" He tugged at the velour that was practically painted onto his body. "I look-?"
Justin grinned. "Really stupid."
JC smiled back, lifting an eyebrow at Justin's shirt. "At least I'm not the only one."
"What, you think Lance looks stupid too?"
"Hey now!" Chris' voice bellowed from behind the closed bathroom door. "You leave Lance out of your little catfight! Boy ain't here to defend himself, and I'm too busy to do it for him!"
"Eww," Justin whispered, crinkling his nose, and JC snickered softly, shifting to the right as Justin joined him by the mirror. Justin patted at his hair, Aqua-Netted within an inch of its life, and caught JC's eyes again. "We really do look stupid," he said ruefully, hunching his shoulders a bit. JC shook his head, still smiling.
"A little, maybe." Without taking his eyes from Justin's reflection, he traced a finger down Justin's spine, carding against the blue velveteen, and Justin's breath caught in his chest. "But it's ok."
"It is?" Justin bit his lip. "Why?"
"Yeah," JC said, his hand steady at the small of Justin's back as he turned his head and looked Justin straight in the eye. " 'Cause Chris has to wear it too."
"I heard that, fucker!" Chris' indignant voice boomed. "If you guys're still out there when I get out-"
"Oh, we're gone," JC laughed, and he grabbed Justin's hand, and Justin let himself be pulled out of the dressing room, down the hallway, towards the stage, wherever it was that JC was going.
